Liz Tanner
Elizabeth Tanner was appointed Secretary of Commerce by Governor Dan McKee in June 2022. She was appointed Director of the Department of Business Regulation in November 2017 under Governor Gina Raimondo. She oversees the regulations and enforcement of all Financial Services, the divisions of the State Fire Marshal’s office (including the Bomb Squad), State Building Office, Office of Cannabis Regulation, Gaming and Athletics and a wide variety of professional licenses. She serves on the board of Rhode Island Housing and is believed to be the only female Boxing Commissioner in the United States.
